Dispatch Week 2008

Since Telecommunications Week, or what we call Dispatch Week, closes I would like to make tribute to ALL my co-workers. They are all highly motivated and dedicated to make this Center the absolute best it can possibly be. They all have their own special talents and personalities, and I think highly of everyone of them. For any of them to do this job is special. Who do you know is so dedicated that they will work revolving shift work, including weekends, nights, holidays, and on-call for minimal monetary compensation. They are the first to be blamed for anything that goes wrong on any incident, and usually the last to be recognized if things go well. But their hearts are full of care and respect for others, and they are here whenever anyone calls for help and assistance. They stay calm in all situations, including the times when hysterical women are screaming into a phone to get there right now her husband is beating her, the child crying he is scared as his mother won't wake up, or the male who is agitated to the point he cusses and curses the dispatcher. The Dispatcher is responsible for hearing the officer on the radio when he is running and screaming he is foot pursuit, and all you hear is "he's wearing a white shirt", and no other description, direction of travel, or location. And when the day is done, the Dispatcher prays that just one call they took was helpful, that they made a difference in some body's life. All my co-workers are these kind of people. And they deserve the recognition they receive at this time of year. Also I want to thank all those who worked so hard to make this week fun for us. The decorations were delightful, the games a blast, and the food was delicious. I enjoy working here, and I appreciate all of you... Thanks to you all... Have a wonderful new year in Dispatch, and remember you are at the Center of the Department, you make the wheel turn.. And you are a smooth running oiled machine...
